Is winter really the season of romance?

Is winter really the season of romance? People are opportunistic in their social and sexual behavior, not seasonal. If the opportunity to have sex comes up, most people don't miss it. In the winter, the swiping time on dating apps is the highest and people are more likely to find a partner. People's sexual behavior is not dependent on the weather, social, cultural and family pressures determine the cuffing season. Scientists have said that the lack of serotonin and oxytocin in winter motivates people to seek warmth and relationships. Every year, with the onset of winter, a special trend starts, which is called 'cuffing season' in today's dating world. Cuffing season is the season where singles look for love in the winter. But is there any scientific basis behind it? Let me start by saying that I am not promoting any kind of inappropriate behavior. I am just talking about the culture known as 'cuffing season'. Singles spend the summer enjoying themselves fr...

These are the foods that produce more gas in the stomach

These are the foods that produce more gas in the stomach

A normal person passes gas from the anus five to fifteen times a day and this can be a sign of good health.

Fatty foods, legumes, onions, milk, whole grains, cabbage and fruits produce gas and some can also cause bad breath.

It is necessary to consult a doctor when there is a problem with gas and drink enough water and gradually include fiber in the diet.

Any person passes gas from the anus is a normal process. A normal person passes gas five to fifteen times a day. If the discomfort or embarrassment caused by passing gas is ignored, passing gas can be considered a sign of good health. This situation can be understood as follows- You are eating things that are beneficial for health, which produce gas.

Foods that produce gas are generally beneficial for the heart. These are complex carbohydrates rich in fiber. Whole grains, brown rice, oats and vegetables are called complex carbohydrates because they are digested slowly and make the stomach feel full for a long time.

Our body cannot fully digest these complex carbohydrates, but the good bacteria in the intestines break them down, and in the process, gas is formed.

What foods cause gas? What foods can cause bad breath? When should you see a doctor if you have gas problems?

1. Fatty foods

Fatty foods slow down the body's digestion. This causes the food to stay in the intestines for a long time and the digestion process begins there. This process causes bad breath. For example, this can happen when you eat fatty meat.

Red meat, like fatty meat, is a bit more complicated because it is rich in an amino acid called methionine, which contains sulfur. This is converted by the bacteria in the intestines into hydrogen sulfide, which produces a rotten egg smell. Not only meat, but other foods can also increase the bad breath smell.

2. Legumes

Legumes and pulses are high in fibre, but they also contain a complex sugar called raffinose, which the body cannot fully process. This sugar goes straight to the gut, where bacteria break it down to use it as energy. This process produces gases such as hydrogen, methane and sometimes smelly sulphur.

3. Eggs

Contrary to popular belief, eggs do not cause gas in most people. However, they do contain an amino acid called methionine, which is rich in sulphur. So if you want to avoid smelly gas, avoid eating eggs with gas-producing legumes such as kidney beans, lentils and lean meats. If eating eggs causes bloating or gas, you may be allergic to eggs.

4. Onions

Onions, artichokes, garlic and green onions contain a carbohydrate called fructan. This is a substance that causes gas and can cause bloating.

5. Milk and dairy products

Cow and goat milk contain a sugar called lactose, which can cause gas. About 70 percent of the adult population worldwide is lactose intolerant to some degree. For such people, consuming milk or other dairy products can cause bloating and gas.

6. Wheat and whole grains

Fructane is a type of fiber that causes gas and is found in whole grains. Foods made from oats and wheat, such as bread, pasta, and other whole grains, can also cause gas. In addition, some whole grains, such as wheat and barley, contain gluten. If the body cannot tolerate gluten, consuming these foods can cause gas or bloating.

7. Broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage

Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, and other green leafy vegetables are high in fiber. These vegetables are a bit harder for the body to digest, but bacteria in the intestines use this fiber as energy. This process produces gas.

Many of these cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli, also contain sulfur, which can increase the smell of gas.

8. Fruits

Fruits like apples, mangoes, and pears are high in the natural sugar fructose. In addition, some apples and pears are also high in fiber. Many people have difficulty digesting fructose. When such people eat these sweet fruits, they may experience gas or bloating because their bodies cannot fully break down this sugar. However, fructose intolerance is not as common as lactose intolerance.

Can gas be prevented?

Fruits, vegetables, and legumes can cause gas, but eating them regularly is more important than trying to avoid gas. If you have not been eating much fiber before and suddenly increase its amount, the chances of stomach discomfort and gas formation increase.

Therefore, fiber should be introduced into your diet gradually, so that the body gets used to it and does not have any side effects. Drinking enough water reduces the problem of constipation, which is a major cause of gas formation.

If feces are stuck in the intestines for a long time, it gradually starts to form, which causes a lot of gas and can have a strong odor. Therefore, you should try to take some fluids with meals and drink water or other fluids throughout the day to help with constipation.

Keep your body hydrated.

The UK's National Health Service recommends drinking peppermint tea to help relieve gas and bloating. If you swallow air while eating or drinking, the air will pass out of your body as burps or gas.

Should you be concerned about gas?

In most cases, gas is nothing to worry about. There are many common and harmless causes of gas that do not require any testing or treatment.

However, in some cases, excessive gas can be a sign of a serious health problem. If you have any concerns, you should consult your doctor.

In addition, some medications can cause bad-smelling gas. This can be a possible side effect.
